Culture.
Amongst cultural forms that have been rooted generation to generation are traditional festivities and dances, such as liveries in El Palmar or “ La Piñata ” in Teno Alto, as well as the ribbon dance, the cord balls and various folk events, some of which are named after the town (“tanguillo” or Teno's “tajaraste”, Teno's polka, Teno's “joropo”).
Likewise, ancient customs should be noted such as the way of measuring hours by the cliff shadows, showing a clear pre-Hispanic influence, deeply rooted in other places in the archipelago.
Other interesting events are Fiestas de la Cruz (the Cross Festivities) in Las Lagunetas, San Juanito in El Carrizal, Nuestra Señora de La Asunción (Our Lady of the Assumption) and Saint Lucia in La Cuesta , Virgen del Carmen in Las Portelas, San Bartolomé in El Casco, San Jerónimo in Teno Alto, La Consolación in Palmar and La Concepción in Masca.
