Most of Buenavista municipality, where Masca is located, is the area regarded as one of the three oldest geological sectors in Tenerife : Teno massif, a space formed from multiple lava emissions. As part of ancient traditions, showing people's interest in and devotion to Virgen de Los Remedios, there is a holiday for this patron saint in October each year and one for San Antonio Abad in January, including livestock exhibits, magicians' dances, processions and other attractions as part of Masca's history.
